Broeckhouse Pilsner is brewed according to the old Czech traditions. It has been hopped using the exquisite Czech Saaz hops. The mild, light malt flavour is balanced by a distinct bitterness. Broeckhouse Pilsner has a more hopped flavour and thus more character than the ordinary Danish pilsner. Should be served cold, at 5-7°C. The pilsner originated from the Plsen District in the Czech Republic. In this part of Europe the water was soft and the bright golden beer could be produced as opposed to the darker Bavarian version made on hard water. In Denmark the dark Bavarian version was consumed until the mid-40'ies when equipment that could remove calcium from the water became available. With the calcium removed from the water it was possible to produce Pilsner and it soon became the preferred choice of the Danish consumers.
